Description

Classic, buttery snowball cookies rolled in powdered sugar. These easy-to-make cookies are perfect for holiday baking and gifting.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chopped nuts.
  7. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, roll the cookies in the remaining 1 cup of powdered sugar until well coated.

  • For gluten-free snowball cookies, substitute a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
