Classic, buttery snowball cookies rolled in powdered sugar. These easy-to-make cookies are perfect for holiday baking and gifting.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 cup powdered sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chopped nuts.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, roll the cookies in the remaining 1 cup of powdered sugar until well coated.
Notes
- For gluten-free snowball cookies, substitute a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- These cookies can be made ahead and stored before rolling in powdered sugar.
