Description

A fun and spooky no-bake dessert perfect for Halloween parties. These adult-friendly graveyard dirt cups feature rich chocolate flavor and can be made vegan.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (about 14 ounces) chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 1/4 cup melted vegan butter
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix (or vegan chocolate pudding mix)
  • 2 cups milk (or unsweetened plant-based milk for vegan option)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or full-fat coconut cream for vegan option), chilled
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegan gummy worms
  • Optional: Dark chocolate liqueur or coffee liqueur

Instructions

  1. Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies in a food processor until fine crumbs form.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cookie crumbs with the melted vegan butter. Mix until well combined.
  3. Press about 2 tablespoons of the crumb mixture into the bottom of each serving cup or glass.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk according to package directions. If using vegan pudding mix, follow its specific instructions.
  5. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream (or chilled coconut cream) with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. For a vegan option, ensure you are using vegan heavy cream or whipped coconut cream.
  6. Gently fold the whipped cream into the prepared pudding until just combined. If adding liqueur, fold it in now.
  7. Spoon the pudding mixture evenly over the cookie crust in each cup.
  8. Chill the dirt cups for at least 30 minutes, or until the pudding is set.
  9. Before serving, top each dirt cup with more crushed cookies to resemble dirt.
  10. Decorate with vegan gummy worms and other spooky garnishes to create a graveyard effect.

Notes

  • For an adult version, you can add a tablespoon or two of dark chocolate liqueur or coffee liqueur to the pudding mixture.
  • Ensure all ingredients are vegan if making the vegan version, especially the gummy worms and chocolate cookies.
  • Chill the serving cups before filling for easier handling.
