Quick and easy homemade applesauce recipe using an Instant Pot. Perfect for a healthy snack or baby food.
Ingredients

- 4 pounds apples (about 8–10 medium), peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Place the peeled, cored, and quartered apples in the Instant Pot.
- Add water, sugar (if using), cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and lemon juice (if using).
- Secure the lid and set the valve to sealing.
- Cook on High Pressure for 8 minutes.
- Allow for a Natural Pressure Release for 10 minutes, then carefully do a Quick Release for any remaining pressure.
- Open the lid and stir the applesauce.
- For chunky applesauce, mash with a potato masher. For smooth applesauce, use an immersion blender or transfer to a regular blender and blend until smooth.
- Serve warm or chilled.
Notes
- Choose apples like Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith for best results.
- Adjust sugar and spices to your preference.
- For baby food, ensure the applesauce is blended very smooth and cool completely before serving.
- Store leftover applesauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
