Description

A classic and comforting dessert featuring sweet, juicy peaches baked under a tender biscuit topping, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat the peaches.
  3. Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Pour in the milk and melted butter. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit batter over the peach mixture.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • For canned peaches, use those packed in juice or light syrup, and drain them well.
  • If using fresh peaches, you can peel them or leave the skins on for a more rustic texture.
