Description
A simple and comforting recipe for baked apples, perfect for a healthy dessert or a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Gala)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the apples. Core each apple, leaving the bottom intact to create a well. You can also slice a small bit off the bottom of each apple so it stands upright.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Stir in the chopped nuts and raisins (if using) into the butter mixture.
- Spoon the filling evenly into the core of each apple.
- Place the cored and filled apples in a baking dish.
- Pour the water into the bottom of the baking dish.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Basting with the pan juices halfway through can add extra flavor.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, ensure your ingredients are certified gluten-free.
