Description

A simple and comforting recipe for baked apples, perfect for a healthy dessert or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the apples. Core each apple, leaving the bottom intact to create a well. You can also slice a small bit off the bottom of each apple so it stands upright.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Stir in the chopped nuts and raisins (if using) into the butter mixture.
  5. Spoon the filling evenly into the core of each apple.
  6. Place the cored and filled apples in a baking dish.
  7. Pour the water into the bottom of the baking dish.
  8. Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Basting with the pan juices halfway through can add extra flavor.
  9. Serve warm.
