- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
Instructions
- Place the sliced apples in your crockpot.
- Add water, maple syrup or honey (if using), cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves (if using).
- Stir everything to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the apples are very tender.
- Once tender, mash the apples with a potato masher or fork for a chunky texture, or blend with an immersion blender for a smoother consistency.
- Stir in lemon juice if desired.
- Serve warm or chilled.
